Assessments and improvement actions

Compliance Manager

Turn Compliance Manager into a working assessment programme — not a score you glance at once.

Microsoft Purview Compliance Manager implementation for UK organisations

A score is not a control

Microsoft Purview Compliance Manager can hold assessments, recommended improvement actions and a score. Opening a UK GDPR template is not an implementation. The work is choosing which assessments you will actually run, who owns each action, what evidence looks like, and which Purview controls those actions depend on.

Ghani Governance sets that programme up for UK organisations. UK GDPR appears here in general terms: storage, security and accountability themes that the template maps — not a claim that a completed assessment equals compliance. Product reference: Microsoft’s Compliance Manager documentation.

What we put in place

Assessment scope

Which templates you will run — typically a small set you can maintain, including UK GDPR where it is relevant — not every regulation in the gallery.

Improvement actions

Owners, status, and a realistic sequence. Many actions are Purview configuration; some are process. We say which is which.

Evidence

What you will attach, who can attest, and what you will not fake.

Related controls

Where an action points at DLP, labels, retention or audit, we connect it to the live workstream rather than leaving a dangling tick.

Review cadence

How often the score is read, and who is allowed to mark an action complete.

Process

Readiness

Licences, existing assessments, and whether anyone already owns the score.

Choose assessments

A short list you will actually maintain.

Map actions

Which are configuration, which are process, who owns each.

Implement

Purview work those actions require, in the same engagement or a linked workstream.

Hand over

How the programme is reviewed without becoming a neglected dashboard.

Compliance Manager questions

Does a high Compliance Manager score mean we are GDPR compliant?

No. A score reflects improvement actions Microsoft has mapped for a template. It is a management tool, not a certificate and not a legal opinion that you meet UK GDPR.

Do you complete the improvement actions for us?

We help you choose assessments, interpret actions, and implement the Purview and process work those actions describe. Evidence still has to be yours. We do not tick a template and call the organisation compliant.

Is this a substitute for a DPO or a DPIA?

No. Compliance Manager can support an accountability programme. It does not replace a DPO, a DPIA, or advice on your facts.
